Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a skin treatment that utilises the healing properties of your own blood to rejuvenate and improve the appearance of the skin as well as stimulate hair growth. The procedure involves drawing a small amount of your blood and processing it to separate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors and other beneficial substances.

The resulting PRP solution is then injected or applied topically to the skin. These growth factors stimulate collagen production, promote tissue regeneration, and enhance skin elasticity, resulting in a smoother, brighter, and more youthful complexion. With respect to hair growth, the growth factors help nourish the hair follicles, promote new hair growth, and improve the overall quality of existing hair.

PRP therapy is commonly used for various skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, and texture irregularities. PRP treatment is suitable for both men and women experiencing various types of hair loss, including androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness). It is a safe and natural treatment option, as it utilises your body’s own resources to improve the health and appearance of your skin. Multiple sessions may be recommended to achieve optimal results.

What We Can Address

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Fine lines and wrinkles can be addressed by promoting collagen and elastin production within the skin. PRP treatment aids in increasing dermal thickness, which can contribute to smoother skin and less noticeable imperfections. Pairing PRP with microneedling can enhance the results.

Skin Tone and Texture

Boosting collagen in the skin via PRP can reduce textural irregularities. The result is a more even skin surface, appearing plump and hydrated. This is particularly effective for the face, neck, décolletage, and back of the hands.

Scarring

The significant increase in collagen post-PRP treatment can aid in the improvement and remodelling of both flat and raised scars. This treatment can be especially beneficial when used in conjunction with skin needling.

Hair Loss

PRP serum, enriched with growth factors, can be used to address thinning hair. It promotes the thickening of fine hairs, and encourages a greater number of hair follicles to enter the growth phase simultaneously. When complemented with oral medications, hair loss can be more effectively managed.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED

You will generally need to undergo a series of three to four treatments for skin rejuvenation or six treatments for hair loss. Treatments are typically spaced approximately two to four weeks apart. Throughout each session, we take the necessary steps to prepare your skin and provide you with the required pre- and post-treatment creams for optimal care and results. Our aim is to ensure your comfort and satisfaction throughout the PRP treatment process.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

It is common for patients to experience varying degrees of swelling and redness following the treatment, which is known as a micro-vascular reaction. These reactions are expected and typically subside within 24 hours. Some discomfort, minor bleeding, or bruising may also occur. While infection is rare, it is a potential but uncommon occurrence. Our team will provide appropriate guidance to minimize any potential side effects and ensure your safety throughout the treatment process.

RECOVERY

Typically, the redness and swelling experienced post-treatment will subside within 24 hours. Although small bruises may take 1-2 weeks to fully resolve, they can often be easily concealed with make-up. LED treatment may be used to enhance the recovery.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Following skin rejuvenation treatment, you can typically observe noticeable improvements in skin tone and texture after the initial session. The induction of collagen production usually takes around 4-6 weeks to become apparent and continues to progress over the course of several months. In the case of hair loss treatment, many patients experience hair thickening within 6 weeks, with further improvement expected over the following 12 months. The results of both skin rejuvenation and hair loss treatments are gradual processes, and individual outcomes may vary. It is important to maintain regular treatment sessions and follow the guidance of your our experienced team for optimal and sustained benefits

AFTERCARE

To maintain optimal skin hydration, it is recommended to apply a recovery balm or a sensitive moisturiser to your skin 3-5 times a day. Use gentle cleansing products exclusively and refrain from using any “active” skincare products like retinol or AHA’s for a period of 5 days. Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area to minimize potential irritation. Protecting your skin from the sun is crucial during the first week to prevent any pigment changes. It is advised to avoid swimming for a period of 5 days following the treatment. Following these guidelines will help ensure the best possible outcome and support the healing process of your skin.
