Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a type of non-surgical cosmetic treatment used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Dermal fillers are commonly used to address signs of ageing, including deep lines and wrinkles, hollowed cheeks, thin lips, and sagging skin. By injecting the fillers beneath the skin’s surface, they provide instant volume and stimulate collagen production, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The effects of dermal fillers are typically long-lasting but not permanent, with duration varying depending on the product used.

Areas we can treat

CHEEKS

The appearance of your cheeks can significantly impact the overall look of your face. There are several factors to consider when contemplating cheek filler treatment. These include having flat or underdeveloped cheekbones, noticeable asymmetry between the sides of your face, or a sunken and hollow appearance associated with the natural ageing process. By opting for cheek filler injections, we can effectively restore volume to your cheeks, enhancing the depth and contour of your facial structure. The results can be truly remarkable, as properly administered dermal cheek fillers have the potential to create a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance, leaving your entire face looking fresh and revitalised.

LIPS

The desire for fuller, more attractive lips has become increasingly popular, and it comes as no surprise that lip enhancements are among our frequently sought-after treatments. Lip fillers offer transformative results for various concerns, whether it’s thinness, asymmetry, lack of proportion, or a need for added definition. Our skilled team is adept at tailoring lip enhancements to suit your specific goals and facial structure. Since the lips are one of the first facial features to exhibit signs of ageing, dermal fillers are often combined with anti-wrinkle injections to restore volume and structure to the lower face, ensuring a comprehensive rejuvenation.

JAW

Similar to the cheeks, the jawline plays a crucial role in facial structure, providing definition and harmonising the upper and lower face. If you desire a more defined jawline, improved symmetry, or enhanced definition, jawline filler can be an ideal solution. Our approach often involves combining jawline filler with additional filler in the upper face to achieve a natural and proportionate outcome. Additionally, we may incorporate anti-wrinkle injections in the jawline area to relax over-active muscles, further customising the treatment for a result that beautifully complements your unique facial aesthetics.

CHIN

Chin dermal filler is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that involves the use of injectable fillers to enhance and reshape the chin area. This procedure is designed to address various concerns, such as a small or receding chin, asymmetry, or lack of definition. By carefully injecting dermal fillers into specific areas of the chin, volume and structure can be added, resulting in a more balanced and proportionate facial appearance.

TEAR TROUGH

Under-eye dark circles can stem from factors such as facial bone structure or age-related volume loss in the face, resulting in a fatigued and worn-out appearance that often attracts comments like “you look tired.” Dermal fillers offer effective solutions for addressing this concern. By restoring volume under the eyes, providing support to the surrounding tissues, and enhancing the texture of the skin, dermal fillers can yield excellent outcomes. Our tear trough filler treatment is carefully customised to your unique facial structure, ensuring natural-looking results. The end result is a radiant, refreshed, and youthful appearance that leaves you glowing with confidence.

NASOLABIAL FOLD

The nasolabial fold refers to the crease that extends from the nose to the sides of the mouth. This fold often occurs due to a decrease in volume in the upper jaw and sagging of the cheeks. To achieve a natural and subtle outcome, we typically address this area in conjunction with other regions in the mid-face. By utilising nasolabial fold fillers, we can diminish the depth of the fold, target the base of the nose, and provide support to the upper lip. These combined enhancements work harmoniously to rejuvenate the mid-face, accentuating and highlighting your distinct and captivating features.

TEMPLE

Temple fillers have gained considerable popularity in the realm of cosmetic enhancements, as they have the potential to enhance the overall shape of your face when administered by an experienced professional. Over time, the temples may hollow out due to the natural loss of fat and tissue on the sides of the face. By addressing the temple area with dermal fillers, we can effectively address sunken temples, sagging cheeks, and the outer portion of the brow. The application of fillers in this area results in a subtly rounded and more youthful face shape, creating a noticeable transformation that may pleasantly surprise you.

NOSE

It is not uncommon to experience asymmetry, deviation, or concerns about the size and shape of your nose, whether due to genetics or previous injury. As the central focal point of the face, any irregularities in the nose can impact the overall harmony of your facial structure. Nose filler, also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty, offers a viable alternative to traditional surgical procedures. Through the use of hyaluronic acid filler, we can effectively smooth and contour your nose, tailoring it to complement your natural bone structure. This non-invasive and efficient procedure can help bring balance to your facial features, significantly boosting your self-assurance in the process.

LIQUID FACELIFT

Step away from conventional facelifts. Experience the benefits of a liquid facelift, a non-surgical approach that provides a lifted appearance without the associated discomfort and recovery time. Our skilled practitioners employ high-density filler to strategically target five vital areas on the face: the brow, cheek, nasolabial area, upper lip, and pre-jowl region. These specific locations are prone to sagging and drooping. By integrating this technique with regular dermal filler procedures to restore volume and sculpt the face, we can achieve remarkable and natural-looking outcomes that enhance your unique features.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS DERMAL FILLER?

Dermal fillers consist of a soft, gel-like substance typically composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural component found in the human body. These injectable fillers effectively add volume, improve suppleness, and create smoother skin when administered beneath the surface. Various types of dermal fillers are available, each serving specific purposes. Firmer fillers are utilised to enhance shape and provide structural support, while softer fillers are employed to hydrate the skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines. The selection of an appropriate filler depends on the desired treatment outcome, and a qualified professional can recommend the most suitable option for individual needs.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Dermal filler will generally last 9-18 months, however in some people it will be longer than this. Unfortunately, there are small amount of people for whom dermal filler does not last this long.

WHAT TYPE OF FILLER TO USE?

It is important to have a good knowledge of the various dermal fillers that are available and their properties. They vary in the degree of lift they produce in the tissue, the stiffness or softness they produce when placed in the tissue, the degree of hydration and their longevity. It is important to consider what is trying to be achieved in choosing the best type of filler for a particular patient. For example, in a younger patient where volume is the main aim and where there is already good existing structure, a softer filler is ideal. In contrast, when we are trying to re-create structure in the lip as well as volume we would choose something with slightly more structure.

PAIN RELIEF DURING PROCEDURE

A numbing cream is applied to the lips 15-20 minutes prior to the procedure. This creates a good level of pain relief and allows for a very comfortable procedure. If required regional nerve blocks can be used (similar to what you would receive at the dentist).

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

When performed by skilled professionals, dermal fillers are a safe and effective treatment. Although the procedure typically entails no recovery time, it is common to experience temporary swelling, redness, and possible bruising, which should gradually fade in the following days. Discolouration, bleeding, or bruising may also occur. While improper injection into a blood vessel can lead to more severe complications, a comprehensive understanding of facial anatomy and expert injection techniques significantly mitigates this risk. There have been cases in Australia of vascular injury whereby filler is unknowingly injected into a blood vessel. It is very rare, but if it occurs, it could lead to necrosis of the skin or visual loss. In the rare occurrence of incorrect filler placement, hyaluronidase can be promptly and safely administered to dissolve the filler and reverse its effects.

RECOVERY

Dermal fillers require minimal downtime, making them a highly sought-after treatment. While it is possible to experience mild bruising or swelling, these effects typically resolve within a few days. If any discomfort persists, over-the-counter pain relievers such as paracetamol can help alleviate it. If bruising occurs, applying a cold compress immediately after the procedure and for the first 24 hours can help dramatically. The use of LED therapy as well as arnica cream can also speed up the healing process

AFTERCARE

Following your filler treatment, it is recommended to refrain from applying make-up or lipstick for at least four hours. It is also advised to avoid intense physical exercise for the next 24 hours and refrain from swimming for a week. Additionally, it is advisable to abstain from consuming alcohol for 24 hours after the procedure, as it may heighten the risk of bruising. These precautions can help optimise the healing process and minimise potential complications.
